Acts 2:45 NKJV
"Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need."
Only other believers? Each other? or truly anyone?
vs 44 - (Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,)
vs 45 - "and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need."
Not just goods, but possessions as well
I am conditional in my generosity - I'll give this, and even two of those, but not that. And selling is rather impersonal - not giving a special item to a certain person, but just hocking everything to anyone who will give the highest price. "But these are my things, Lord. My possessions, they are special and even if they aren't mine to keep, can't I decide to whom they are given? Where they will now reside?
That is my possession. I can just sell it off! It was my grandmother's, birthday, graduation, homecoming, birth announcing, souvenir from a special trip to, funeral, reunion, rock.
Don't just believe, be together.
Don't just be together, but have all things in common. And not only that, but sell everything and give it to each other; give it to anyone who has need.
Lord, help me sort through, and put things where they ought to be each day. In or out, to a friend or a stranger, but all submitted under Your authority because it belongs to You.
